Rick joined Krass Monroe, P.A. in early 1993, becoming
a shareholder in 1994, and has been actively involved in
the firm's corporate finance and real estate practice.
Representing businesses in the negotiation and completion
of business transactions, Rick’s practice focuses
on acquisitions, divestitures, valuations, joint ventures,
and financing transactions. His practice emphasizes corporate
and commercial finance, tax, real estate, and estate planning. Rick
has extensive experience in 1031 like kind exchanges and
complex tenants-in-common transactions. Rick also
works with regional and national lenders and has experience
in structuring, negotiating, documenting, and closing commercial
and corporate finance transactions including senior debt,
subordinated debt, and private equity transactions, secured,
mezzanine, and securitized financing transactions, and
corporate mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.
Rick speaks at business conferences and special franchise
finance industry events. In addition to speaking,
Rick contributes to franchise finance industry publications
and has been honored by Franchise Times as one
of franchising’s top 100 “Legal Eagles”. He
has also been selected as a “Super Lawyer” by Minnesota
Law & Politics magazine.
Graduating from Arizona State University with a B.S. degree
in finance, Rick earned a Juris Doctor degree from the
University of Minnesota. He is also a Certified Public
Accountant and began his career with the international
accounting firm of PricewaterhouseCoopers.
