Dennis Monroe was a presenter at the 2008 AICPA National Restaurants Conference.  The conference was being held at Caesars Palace on June 8-10, 2008.  He presented on "Legal Issues in the Restaurant Industry" on Sunday, June 8th and was a panel member on Monday, June 9th for "Deal or No Deal - A Private Finance Discussion". His final presentation, "Different Issues to Consider When Representing Franchisors Versus Franchisees." was on Tuesday, June 10th.

Dennis Monroe presented at the SS&G Financial Services Restaurant CFO Bootcamp.  His presentation was "Case Studies, War Stories and Some Good Ideas.".  Dennis also participated in a panel discussion along with Mark Saltzgaber, Brad Saltz, Adam Berebitsky and Gary Shamis.

Ryan Palmer and Tom MacIntosh, attorneys in the firm Franchise, Distribution and IP practice group, attended the International Franchise Association's 41st Annual Legal Symposium, May 11-13, 2008 in Washington, DC.   Ryan lead a round table discussion and Tom was a presenter at a work shop. Considered the premiere event in franchise law, the IFA's Annual Legal Symposium is where franchise attorneys and business professionals gather to exchange information on the latest legal challenges facing the franchising community.

Randy Evans and Dennis Monroe were presenters at the Franchise Finance & Development Conference held April 28-30, 2008 at The Rio Hotel in Las Vegas, NV.  Krass Monroe sponsored the Annual Success Breakfast with Randy Evans moderating a panel presentation on “Building a Great Franchise Performing Company”.  Dennis Monroe presented on "Franchise Financing 2008: Options, Availability, Terms and Pricing". Also attending the conference from the firm were Tom MacIntosh and Ryan Palmer.

David Hill and Andy Hall attended the Area Developer 2008 Multi-Unit Franchising Conference in Scottsdale, AZ on April 23-25, 2008.  The conference focused on opportunities to learn from and interact with multi-unit and multi-concept franchisees.

Randy Evans, John Berg, Scott Husaby and Dennis Monroe attended the Restaurant Leadership Conference in Scottsdale, AZ on March 31-April 2, 2008.  Krass Monroe was a conference sponsor, sponsoring the 2008 Franchise Excellence Awards.  Representing the firm, Dennis Monroe participated in the awards presentation on April 2, 2008.

Dennis Monroe and Randy Evans attended the national YPO Restaurant Industry Roundtable in Atlanta, Georgia on March 10-12, 2008.  Held at the Ritz-Carlton Buckhead, Dennis presented on "Winning in a Downturn (Business Planning in Troubled Times)."

Tom MacIntosh, Jim Wahl and Ryan Palmer attended the 48th Annual International Franchise Association Annual Convention.  The convention was February 9-12, 2008 in Orlando, FL.  Tom MacIntosh spoke on "Financial Freefall: How to Play it When Your Franchisee is Going Bankrupt" and Jim Wahl presented on "Best Practices in Protecting and Enforcing Trademarks, Copyrights and Other IP Interests".  Krass Monroe was a sponsor of the convention Business Solution Roundtables. Tom, Jim and Ryan all all members of the Franchise, Distribution and Intellectual Property practice group.

For the 18th consecutive year, Dennis Monroe was a presenter at the Restaurant Finance and Development Conference, October 28-30 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Dennis participated in the presentation “Restaurant Finance 101 for the Non-Financial Conference Participant” and was the moderator for an operator panel discussing “Franchisees: Capital Structures, Debt Levels, Rent vs. Own, Franchise Relations, Second Concepts and More.” Also representing the firm at the conference were John Berg, David Hill, Randy Evans, Scott Husaby, Tom MacIntosh, Shanna Strowbridge and Jim Wahl.  Krass Monroe was also an event sponsor of the conference.

Tom MacIntosh, Jim Wahl, Lavon Emerson-Henry and Ryan Palmer attended the 30th Annual Forum on Franchising.  A division of the American Bar Association, the Froum was held October 10-12 in Phoeniz, AZ.   Tom, Jim, Lavon and Ryan are all members of the Franchise, Distribution and Intellectual Property practice group.

Randy Evans and Scott Husaby were presenters at the Buffalo Wild Wings 25th Anniversary Convention in Palm Desert, CA on February 26, 2007.  “Executing a Successful Exit Strategy” was the session topic delivered to the franchisees. 

John Berg, a partner in the firm Business Law, Corporate Finance – Mergers & Acquisitions and Taxation Practice Groups along with Scott Husaby, a partner in the Business Law and Wealth Preservation Practice Groups, were presenters at the Upper Midwest Foodservice & Lodging Show (Up Show) at the Minneapolis Convention Center, Minneapolis, MN on Sunday, February 18th.  John and Scott discussed “Executing a Successful Exit Strategy”. 

The 47th Annual International Franchise Association Convention was February 24-27, 2007 at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas, NV.  Tom MacIntosh participated in a panel discussion, "The Do's and Don'ts of Franchise Turnarounds for Large and/or Mature Franchisors" and led a Business Solution Roundtable session, "Expand Your Brand".  David Hill led a Business Solution Roundtable on "'Funding Real Estate Development".  Also attending the Convention from the firm were Jim Wahl and Ryan Palmer. 

Ryan Palmer and Tom MacIntosh attended the 29th Annual Forum on Franchising. A division of the American Bar Association, the Forum was held October 12-13 in Boston, MA and offered unparalleled franchise educational content. 

The 17th Annual Restaurant Finance and Development Conference was held November 13-15, 2006 at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas, NV.  Dennis Monroe, Chair of the firm, moderated the Success Breakfast panel discussion on Wednesday, November 15th.  Also attending the conference from the firm were Randy Evans, Tom MacIntosh, John Berg, Scott Husaby, Andy Hall and David Hill.  The conference is the top financial and development conference in the country for restaurant company owners and executives. 

Dennis Monroe presented at the AICPA (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants) National Restaurants Conference in Las Vegas, NV  June 26-27, 2006.  Dennis made two presentations:  “Financing for Growth” and “Legal and Financial Implications of Investing in Franchise Restaurants”. 

Dennis Monroe presented at SS&G Financial Services’ Restaurant CFO Bootcamp.  His presentation was "Legal Issues for Restaurant CFOs".  The course was at the Venetian Hotel, Las Vegas, NV from June 21-22, 2006. 

Gay Cerney, an attorney in our Public Finance practice group, was a speaker at the Minnesota Chapter of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (MN NAHRO) 8 state region conference on May 8, 2006.  She participated in two sessions, “Economic Development Tools:  Overview” and “Economic Development Tools:  Case Studies”.  The sessions gave a general overview and supplemental case studies of the tools from different states within the region that help jurisdictions meet their housing and redevelopment needs.

Dennis Monroe participated in a panel presentation, “Voices of Experience – War Stories About Restaurant Buyouts & Lessons the Dealmakers Have Learned”, at the First Annual MasterClass™ Restaurant M&A and Buyouts class on April 19, 2006.  Sponsored by Capital Roundtable, the class was held at the University Club in New York, NY.

Dennis Monroe, Randy Evans and David Hill were presenters at the Franchise Finance & Development Conference held this year, May 8-10, at The Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas, NV.  Dennis presented on “2006 Franchise Financing:  Trends and Ideas to Finance Your Franchisees”.  David presented “Assessing the Effectiveness and Monitoring the Health of Your Franchise System”.  Krass Monroe sponsored the Annual Success Breakfast, and Randy Evans moderated a panel presentation on “Building a First-Class Franchise Organization”.  Also attending the conference from the firm was Andy Hall.   The conference provided franchise industry attendees with an in-depth look at the franchise financing marketplace.

Jack Harper, Terry Waganer and John Jossart attended the annual Life, Health, Disability and ERISA Claims Seminar in Washington, D.C. on April 26-28, 2006.  DRI, "The Voice of the Defense Bar", sponsored this nationally-acclaimed forum.  DRI is the national organization of defense trial lawyers and corporate counsel.  Topics included current trends in life, health, disability and annuity litigation.  Jack, Terry and John are all members of the firm Litigation practice group.

Dennis Monroe participated at the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) Restaurant Industry Roundtable on March 30th in Washington, DC.  Dennis spoke to YPO members who own, operate and collaborate within the restaurant industry.  The Young Presidents' Organization (YPO), founded in 1950, is a worldwide, not-for-profit executive education organization for presidents and chief executive officers under the age of 50.

Tom MacIntosh, David Hill, Pat Weller and Ryan Palmer attended the 46th Annual International Franchise Convention, February 25-28, 2006 in Palm Springs, CA.  David Hill hosted a Business Solution Roundtable on "Finding Money On Your Terms" on Tuesday, February 28th.  The theme this year was "Building the Future Together" and focused on the latest trends and strategies in the franchise community. Krass Monroe was honored to be a convention event sponsor.
